Hola, My name is Dory Daniel or Señora Dora. I studied Spanish language and literature at the University of Colorado. Before receiving my degree, I held an internship translating for Denver General Hospital where I interacted with Spanish speaking patients. I also had an opportunity to study abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica. These two experiences truly opened my eyes to a world of language and its possibilities for me as a bilingual professional. After receiving my B.A., I continued my travels throughout Europe and Mexico. I was able to learn about the nuances of the various Spanish dialects spoken in Costa Rica, Spain, and Mexico.
After returning from my travels, the appeal of being an educator took root. I decided to continue my studies and gain my Masters in elementary education. Upon completion of my program, I was invited to teach Spanish at Needham Elementary here in Durango, CO. My passion for Spanish language, its culture, and its people has brought me to many different places in my life. My passion for education allows me to share those experiences with my students in this wonderful school community. If you see me walking down the halls, don't hesitate to stop and say, "HOLA"! |
